Remembrance
8:30-9:20
Each Sunday morning we gather together around the bread and the cup, the emblems of our Lord’s sacrifice. Before taking the elements we spend time worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ by singing songs, praying, reading scripture, and sharing about Him.
We normally begin the service with a brother who opens with the week’s meditation and sharing if he so desires. Then the time is open for brothers to participate. All saints are welcome to share. We only ask that men examine themselves so that they do not participate or partake of the elements in an unworthy manner (such as selfishly or divisively). 1 Cor. 11:27-32
At or about 10:05 we ask that one of the brothers in attendance gives thanks for the bread. It is passed for all believers to partake. Then another brother gives thanks for the cup and it is passed. Afterward a request is made to sing a song (with or without comment) while the offering is taken.
This week's meditation can be found here.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
